A Classroom Springboard for Big Ideas
Written by a special education & literacy teacher with 40 years’ experience, Amy the Earth Hero series is a ready-made resource for sparking classroom conversations about civics and the environment.
- Lesson plans linked to the Australian curriculum
- Discussion guides and activity sheets
- Perfect for class sets or independent reading
My favourite of the Amy series was “Amy in the City” because I could relate so closely with Amy’s sadness at leaving behind her forest and the animals.
I had to leave my home, pets and friends in Jordan and come to Australia at a similar age to Amy.
It was extremely hard to say goodbye to all the things I loved and Amy in the City voiced so many of my feelings that I felt a closeness with her and in some ways, it helped appease my own loneliness.
I feel this series of books are a must for parents and schools to get kids to read, and, hopefully receive a passion for conservation.
With each new book I have enjoyed a new journey with Amy and pictured in my head her feelings and passion for animals and the environment.
I have loved experiencing Valerie’s writing and story telling over the series and my favourites were “Amy in the Tropics” and “Amy in the Wilderness”
